A sincere greetings. This is Grace, back with another A Place Beyond update about our past week here in Prescott, AZ.
First order: We've just launched our application for next semester! Many of you have asked about what our plans are for the spring, and many of you received details on those plans this morning in an email from Brandon, one of our instructors. If you missed it, you can check out our website, or feel free to shoot me an email and I can forward you lots of information and answer any questions you might have.
Second order: Fall is here! We're experiencing our first big temperature drops -- highs below 70 for the first time since students arrived. Its nice to be able to enjoy some crisp air.
A quick trip into the desert might also warm us up; and we've done a couple of those over these past weekends. Check out some pictures from our trips to Joshua Tree National Park, the Grand Canyon, and Burro Canyon, and from student trips to some lakes and swimming holes:
Included in some of these trips have been our new cohort, who we welcomed 9 days ago. Eleven students representing ten schools from across the country (and Phoenix and Simba, our two new animals!) have arrived and begun to share with the community their love of colorguard and their enthusiasm for good skits. They joined us in activities like movie night, open mic night, hot seat, and design thinking. They've also bonded very quickly as a group on their own cohort camping night. While they've remained masked and distanced around the rest of us so far, they've already returned multiple negative tests, and we are optimistic that after tomorrow's test they'll be able to unmask so we can complete our full bubble.
